Chapter 13

Data Retention and Compliance

Automate data lifecycle policies, configure recovery grace windows, hard deletion periods, manage Data Subject Requests (DSR), and verify consent logs.

Overview

Data Retention settings configure how long data is kept before automated deletion. Access via Settings > Data Retention in the left sidebar.

Retention Policies

Define retention duration thresholds per data category: User Data, Annotations, Raw Datasets, and System Audit Logs.

Recovery Period (Grace Window)

A grace period (default 30 days) following a deletion request during which data is soft-deleted and remains recoverable upon administrative approval.

Hard Delete Period

After the recovery period expires (default 90 days total), data is permanently, cryptographically, and irreversibly purged from all clusters.

DSR Records (GDPR / CCPA)

Track, execute, and record Data Subject Access Requests (DSAR), corrections, deletion requests, portability archives, and restriction orders.

Consent Records

Audit user acceptance timestamps for Privacy Policies, Terms of Service agreements, and cookie consent preferences.

Export Records

Maintain historical logs of all dataset exports initiated by users, recording exact query timestamps, user IDs, and destination hashes.
